Titus Brein

Titus Brein (Nijmegen, 1966) is an independent fine art photographer, musician and painter. After studying at the Academie voor Beeldende Vorming in Tilburg, he worked for many years in fashion, corporate and documentary photography. Over the past decade, he has focused primarily on fine art photography, bringing photography and painting together in a distinctive way.
His artworks are created through a unique technical process in which models, still lifes and landscapes take on a surreal and sometimes otherworldly atmosphere. Titus explores the boundary between figuration and abstraction, creating an aesthetic entirely his own. Fine, transparently painted layers are combined with indirect photographic techniques, giving his work its characteristic depth and layered quality. Titus Brein exhibits internationally.
Fine art photography by Titus Brein
In Titus Brein’s fine art photography, the original image often serves only as a starting point. By combining photography with painterly interventions, he creates a new reality in which recognition and estrangement exist side by side. His works therefore combine the precision of photography with the depth and freedom of painting.
