Peter Keizer

Peter Keizer (Amsterdam, 1961) is a Dutch artist known for his colourful, expressive paintings and playful sculptures. He studied at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie and the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam, as well as the Royal College of Art in London. Studio Co van der Horst presents an extensive collection of paintings and sculptures by Peter Keizer.

His paintings are characterised by a powerful use of colour and thick, almost sculptural layers of paint. Flowers, landscapes and everyday subjects are transformed into energetic compositions in which movement and material play an important role. Generous brushstrokes and relief-like surfaces give his canvases a strong physical presence, while the subjects themselves often refer to fleeting moments, such as spring blossom or a landscape full of movement.

In Peter Keizer’s work, realism, spontaneity and a distinctive sense of colour come together.
