Flokje van Lith

Flokje van Lith (1969) is a Dutch photographer and visual artist. She studied Photography at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague and worked for many years as a portrait photographer for corporate and private clients. Since 2011, she has focused primarily on her autonomous fine art photography, in which photography and digital painting techniques come together.

Her first independent photographic series was selected for FotoFestival Naarden and the Brooklyn Photo Festival in New York. This was followed by collaborations with galleries and presentations at national and international art fairs, including PAN Amsterdam, Scope Basel and Art Miami. Her work is held in private collections worldwide and has received multiple international awards.

Flokje van Lith’s contemporary fine art photography is created through a careful and layered process. A photographic image forms the starting point, after which she continues to build and refine the composition using digital painting techniques. Colour, light, detail and atmosphere are meticulously balanced, together defining the final character of the work.

By combining photography with digital painting, Van Lith creates a distinctive, painterly visual language. The boundary between photograph and painting becomes blurred, resulting in images that feel familiar while simultaneously evoking a unique, almost timeless reality.
