Dinie Boogaart

Dinie Boogaart (Sneek, 1963) is a Dutch realist painter from Nijega in Friesland. Her paintings focus on classical themes, including portraits, nudes, landscapes and still lifes. Her work is characterised by powerful compositions, warm colours and a distinctive interplay of light and shadow.
Colour, light and chiaroscuro are important defining elements in Dinie Boogaart’s work. By applying multiple transparent glazing layers, she builds up her paintings with great care. This creates deep, luminous colours and strong contrasts. Complementary colours reinforce one another, giving her work a vibrant and radiant appearance.
Paintings by Dinie Boogaart
Dinie Boogaart’s paintings have a strong spatial presence. This is not only due to their size, but above all to the combination of warm colours, bright areas of light and powerfully painted figures. As a result, her subjects appear to come forward and almost take possession of the space surrounding the painting.
Although her subjects are rooted in the tradition of classical painting, her work has a distinctive and immediately recognisable character. Each painting is created from a direct engagement with the subject, giving her portraits, landscapes, still lifes and figures not only a realistic appearance, but also a sense of emotion and intensity.
